EVA Updates Are Fast Approaching
The Association will be sending letters to the farm where the stallion is standing or to the stallion owner. The information being requested is necessary for the Association to maintain updated and accurate information on the stallions in the NM Stallion Registry. The letters will be mailed out October 1st, 2021. Failure to return the requested updated information to the NMHBA office by October 31st, 2021, will result in your stallion not being listed in the Winter Issue of the New Mexico Horse Breeder which features the NM Stallion Directory. The Winter Issue will be published in December.
The EVA Forms will accompany the update letter. Your stallion must receive his yearly EVA booster shot and the EVA Form must be signed by your vet and returned to the NMHBA office no later than February 1, 2022 to keep your stallion active in the NM Horse Breeders’ Stallion Registry. If the EVA form is not received by the deadline, YOUR STALLION WILL BE MARKED INACTIVE. The fee to reactivate any stallion is $200.00. Also, all stallions must be current on EVA regulations to be reactivated.
You can mail all information to the Association at 4836 Hardware Dr. NE, Suite B, Albuquerque, NM 87109 or fax 505-265-8009 or email paulette@nmhorsebreeders.com
2. 10% Track Breeders’ Award Checks
The 10% Track Breeders’ Award checks are now being processed by the NMHBA. Once the New Mexico Racing Commission releases the purses, NMHBA requests the 10% Track Breeders’ Award funds from the appropriate track. When NMHBA
receives the funds, the checks will be written and mailed from the NMHBA office. The checks are tan in color and have 10% Track Breeders’ Award in the center.
3. The NMHBA has three (3) separate registries.
1. NM Bred registry
Remember, the NM Bred registration is not complete until the
registration papers have been finalized by the NMHBA.
2. NM Broodmare registry
3. NM Stallion registry
Keep in mind, a NM Bred is not automatically placed in the Broodmare and Stallion registries. The Broodmare and Stallion registrations are separate from the Bred registration.
4. QH Registration Papers
1. If you have NM Bred Quarter Horses that have been renamed
or have been given a reissued set of registration papers, you need to get them re-stamped by the NMHBA office. You can either mail them or hand carry the papers into the office at 4836 Hardware Dr. NE, Suite B, Albuquerque, NM 87109.
2. Starting with foals born in 2019, the breeder will be the owner of the dam when the foal was conceived. When the certificate of registration for a QH is presented to the NMHBA, the breeder listed on the certificate is the breeder of record in the NMHBA database.
3. Make sure your broodmares are registered in your name with the AQHA before you breed them.
