Three years after Yoyo Verde was named the 2019 Co-South American Champion, along with Co-Champion Baby Fantastic, those same connections won again with Augustus Verde.
Major Brazilian breeder and owner Mauro Eli Zaborowsky, who owns the Brazilian farm Haras Vista Verde, bred and owns both Yoyo Verde and Augustus Verde. Both Champions descend from a family that Zaborowsky has nurtured for five generations.
The mare Orly Vista, a multiple Graded stakes winner in Brazil, produced Yoyo Verde and Augustus Verde in Brazil. The full brothers are by No Secrets Here, winner of the 2006
All American Futurity-G1. No Secrets Here was the #1 leading money earner of 2006 with earnings of $1,637,095.
Trained by A. J. Macedo, Augustus Verde finished second three times in his five starts last year. One of those seconds came in the prestigious Grande Premio South America Racing Challenge.
Zaborowsky couldn’t attend the awards ceremony, and Butch Wise, past president of the American Quarter Horse Association, accepted on his behalf.
“Mauro Zaborowsky is a great supporter of Quarter Horse racing in Brazil,” Wise said, “and it’s a thrill to accept this award for him.”
