The 2020 Ruidoso Select Yearling Sale was held Aug. 28-29 at Lazy E Arena in Guthrie, Oklahoma. The sale was moved from New Mexico to Oklahoma due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The sale saw 315 head of the 375 offered sell with gross receipts of $16,608,400 and a 2-day average of $45,774. There were 29 yearlings that sold for six figures and four of those sold upwards of the $200,000 mark.
The sales high-seller, which sold on the final day for $300,000, was Hip #540 Magic Eagle Lady (One Famous Eagle-Thewayouwantmetoo, Mr Eye Opener). Consigned by Julianna
Hawn Holt and purchased by Linda Gordon, the brown filly is a half-sister to Champion A Revenant and is by Champion/World Cham- pion sire One Famous Eagle and out of Rainbow Futurity-G1 winner Thewayouwantmetoo.
Burns Ranch Agent consigned the $265,000 second highest-seller, Hip #286 Absolute Favor- ite (Favorite Cartel-Babe On The Fly, Strawfly Special). Reliance Ranches LLC purchased the chestnut filly by Champion sire Favorite Cartel and out of multiple graded stakes placed win- ner/blue hen mare Babe On The Fly. Absolute Favorite is a full sister to multiple Graded stakes winner Little Talks and a half-sister to multiple Graded stakes winner Rock You.
The R.D. Hubbard Complete Dispersal Sale was conducted in two sessions during the Ruidoso Select Yearling Sale and included 28 head, with 25 selling for $1,780,000 and a $71,200 average. The $650,000 sale topper was a 34.68% share in leading sire Champion Hes Relentless as Hip #615, which was purchased by Bob Moore Farms LLC/Tom and Bill Maher. Two shares in the World Champion sire/ Champion One Famous Eagle as Hip #’s 612 and 614 were sold for $175,000 each, both purchased by J & SM Inc. Hip #387, 2019 All American Futurity- G1 third placed Determined One (Hes Relentless- Royally Sandra, Royal Quick Dash) was the high selling horse in the dispersal sale and was purchased by Cream Of The Crop for $87,000.
