Turf Paradise Championship

Fighter Gone Wild sailed to his second stakes victory in the $17,500 Turf Paradise Championship for three year olds and upward on Dec. 31.
The 4-year-old gelding stepped into the 3-post determined to finish the year with a win. He broke explosively, leaping out to an early lead against a fast field. The gelding continued his good form at the first call, leading by a head and driving. He dueled under Emilio Tapia and the pair led by a head in
the stretch. Drifting down the track, they extended their lead to 1/2-length and finished with a blistering wire-to-wire victory. Fighter Gone Wild dashed over the 440-yard fast track in :21.474, earning a career best 106 speed index.
Fighter Gone Wild took home the $10,416 win- ner’s share of the purse for owner Orlando Guerrerro and trainer Ubaldo Guerrerro. The 2016 West/ Southwest Hi-Point 3-Year-Old Gelding has now earned $60,020 with a record of 7(2)-4(1)-1 from 21 starts. Fighter Gone Wild’s other stakes victory was in the 2017 American Flyer Stakes, also at Turf Paradise.
Tom Lichlyter bred the gelding out of lightly raced Wanna Know Now ($16,371) in Colorado. The mare has two winners from as many starters. Fighter Gone Wild is her first stakes winner and top earner. Jess A Cowboy (Dejon-Secret Return) was out- finished under Jorge Bourdieu. The 5-year-old gelding placed for owner Larry Stark and trainer Matthew Fales. Fitz (Mr Jess Perry-Dividends Declared) drifted out with no mishap under Joseph Belloc Jr. The 3-year- old gelding came in show for owner Yuriana Ramirez and trainer Rigoberto Guillen. Followed by Specials Gold (Voghts Gold-Special Anywhere), Frontera Special (Genuine Strawfly-Jumanji), AV Zacharys Call (Masters Call-Shesaflying Corona), Dos Tocallos (Jess A Chicks-Fancy Fancy Fancy TB), Kismet (Favorite Cartel-Make A Run) and Peaceful Bono (Bono Jazz- Peace Fire). Volcano was scratched.
AQRA Southwest Futurity

Texas Tornadoe closed the year with his second stakes victory in the $28,025 AQRA Southwest Futurity at Turf Paradise on Dec. 30.
After winning the AQRA Turf Paradise Futurity in October, the filly has yet to slow down. She stepped into the 4-post and left the gates in fourth. She was
a head behind the leader and gaining under Andres Osuna at the first call. The pair caught and passed the leader by the top of the stretch. Although they drifted in, they left the field far behind at the wire with a 1 1/4-length victory. The pair covered the 350-yard fast track in :17.783 and earned a 93 speed index.
Texas Tornadoe bagged the $14,012 winner’s
share for owner Angel Valenzuela and trainer Raul Valenzuela. The filly’s win boosted her lifetime earnings to $36,799 and took her record to 4(2)-3-1 from 9 starts.
Ralph and Carolyn Fales bred Texas Tornadoe out of the 2-time winning Thoroughbred mare Its A Dry Heat in Arizona. She has produced 100% money earn- ers from eight Quarter Horse and Thoroughbred start- ers. Texas Tornadoe is her third Quarter Horse stakes winner, alongside her top earner 4-time stakes winner, West/Southwest Hi-Point 3-Year-Old Colt, West/ Southwest Hi-Point Aged Stallion Heat Warning and stakes winner Macy Bay. The mare has also produced three Quarter Horse stakes placed runners.
Brooksmidnighteagle (One Dashing Eagle-Brooks Midnight) and jockey Jesus Osuna weres 2nd for Chad Richard and trainer Tyler Gibbs. Running Your Wagon (PYC Paint Your Wagon-Runnning Brook Gal) was bumped at the start under jockey Mark Jasso and took 3rd for A & C Racing and Roping and trainer Tyler Gibbs. Followed by Jazzy Icon (Texas Icon-Icebreaker), My Pistolita (Pistoli-Tribal Force TB), Corrupt (Stel Corona-Hayleys My Name), Pirteville Cartel (Flair For Dancing-Buds Pretty In Blue), Come N Catch Me (Texas Icon-Loves What Counts) & Marshall Valentine (The Bounty Man-Terri Tazer). Tanyah Tucker scratched.
