  LINE CALL
Margaret V. Bloss’ Line Call ended her 3-year-old season with a victory in the October 31, $100,000 New Mexico Cup Oaks Championship (R) for state-bred sophomore fillies at Zia Park.
Line Call actually crossed the wire second, a nose behind Proofsinthepuddin, but was moved up to first due to the disqualification of Proofsinthepuddin
due to a medication violation. Francisco Amparan rode the chestnut filly for trainer Nancy Summers.
Line Call was bred by Stephen R. Brown and she was purchased by Bloss as a yearling for $20,000 at the 2019 New Mexico-Bred Sale at Ruidoso Downs. The filly is the lone stakes winner from seven starters sired by Chipshot, a stakes-win- ning and Grade 3-placed son of the Jules stallion Peace Rules and the Grade 3-win- ning Appealing Skier mare Chipski.
Racing in 10 states from 2010-13, Chipshot earned $225,314 from 30
starts and won the 2011 Select Stakes at Monmouth Park in New Jersey. The stal- lion has sired the earners of more than $163,000. Chipshot is owned by Don and Choya Young and he stands at Young
Farm near Tatum, New Mexico.
Line Call is the lone starter to date
produced by Devons Cat, a winning
New Mexico-bred daughter of the Robyn Dancer stallion Abajo. Her second dam, the winning Devon Lane mare Devons Super Lady, foaled Mr Mooch, a half- brother to Devons Cat who won three New Mexico-bred stakes at Ruidoso Downs from 2017-19.
Line Call’s third dam, the winning Tejano mare Set Values, produced Values Of The Hunt, a multiple stakes placed full sister to Devons Super Lady. Line Call traces back to her fourth dam, Super Set, a multiple stakes winning daughter of the Naskra stallion Star de Naskra. A 1983 foal, Super Set foaled three stakes winners, all of whom were half siblings
to Set Values, including Set Records, a gelded son of Sauce Boat who won seven stakes in New Mexico from 1993-95, including the $80,850 Ruidoso Breeders’ Cup Handicap in 1995.
Raced in two states, including Arizona, Line Call has won three of 11 starts
-- including the 2020 New Mexico Cup Lassie Championship (R) at Zia Park
-- and the $60,000 winner’s share of the New Mexico Cup Oaks Championship purse increased her bankroll to $120,352.
Marking Time was placed second and was followed officially by Speedy Wildcat, Quatro, Desertrose Oftexas, and Fill The Bill.
Marking Time banked the $20,000 runner-up share of the purse for her owner, Centurion Racing Partners LLC.
A bay daughter of the Bernardini stal- lion Marking and a half sister to multiple stakes winner Sunscreen, the filly has won two of 12 races and has earned $76,989, and her record includes a third-place fin- ish, 2 3/4 lengths behind winner Izeright, in the May 30, 6 1/2-furlong Dine Stakes at SunRay Park.
Speedy Wildcat is a homebred chestnut Marking filly campaigned by J. Kirk and Judy Robison of El Paso, Texas. A half- sister to New Mexico-bred stakes win- ners Liberty Lover, Diabolical King, and Wheredoesthecashgo, Speedy Wildcat has won two of eight races, and the $10,000 third-place share of the New Mexico Cup Oaks Championship purse pushed her earnings to $54,755.
