  WHERES BRAYDEN
  R. Dwain Yarbar’s Wheres Brayden scored a 2 1/2-length victory in the December 13, $100,000 Steve Prather Stakes (R) for New Mexico-bred 2-year-old Thoroughbreds at Zia Park.
Ridden by Enrique Gomez, Wheres Brayden covered his 1-mile and 70-yard trip in 1:43.32 while earning his second career stakes win. Greg Green prepped the homebred bay son of Artful Run.
Wheres Brayden was stretching out in distance off of his four-length victory in the 6-furlong, $100,000 New Mexico Cup Juvenile Championship (R) on October 31. A half- brother to the listed-stakes placed King Cugat filly Fortune Or Folly, the gelding became the first official black-type stakes winner sired by Artful Run, a winning 13-year-old son of the El Prado (IRE) stallion Artie Schiller. Racing in three states, including Florida and Kentucky, from 2010-12, Artful Run earned $42,081 from nine starts.
Artful Run entered stud in 2013, and he has sired five starters and the earners of more than $278,000. He is owned by Yarbar and stands at Susan Hunter’s Hunter Creek Farms at Roswell, New Mexico.
Wheres Brayden is also one of two starters produced by Little Mandate, a winning
14-year-old daughter of the A.P. Indy stallion Full Mandate. Little Mandate is a half-sister to Sr. Quisqueyano, a five-time stakes winner in Florida from 2012-15.
Wheres Brayden’s third dam, the Kentucky- bred Buckfinder mare Little V., foaled three stakes winners, including Lt’l Miss D.S., a seven-time stakes winner at Suffolk Downs in Massachusetts from 1993-95. The gelding traces back to his fifth dam, Misty Hill (GB), an unraced Hill Clown mare who produced three stakes winners.
Wheres Brayden has won three of seven starts, and the $60,000 winner’s share of
the purse from his second career stakes score increased his earnings to $168,505. He made
his career debut with a second-place run, 2
1/4 lengths behind winner Bye Bye Matty
P, in the May 23, 4 1/2-furlong C.O. “Ken” Kendrick Memorial Stakes (R) at SunRay
Park, and he was a finalist in the September 19, $235,000 New Mexico State Fair Futurity (R) at Albuquerque Downs.
Wheres Brayden was sent to post as the 7-5 favorite in the field of eight and returned a $4.80 win mutuel. Warriors Mark ran second and was followed by Lonzo Who, Reads Pet Zenon, Rig Rider, Mark’s Warrior, Quinton’s Charmer, and Bodie Got Gold.
Warriors Mark is a chestnut son of the Bernardini stallion Marking campaigned by Leslie A. Amestoy and Pierre Amestoy. A half- brother to stakes winners Our Flying Angel and Storm Warrior, the homebred gelding has won one of four starts, and the $20,000 runner-up share of the purse pushed his bankroll to $34,580.
Lonzo Who earned $10,000 to bring his earnings to $61,083 from eight outs for his owners, Sam E. Stevens and Sammy L. Stevens of Lamesa, Texas, who also bred the gelded son of the Indian Charlie stallion Comfort. Lonzo Who’s resume includes a second-place finish, 1 1/4 lengths behind winner Marked, in the June 26, $124,000 Mountain Top Futurity (R) at Ruidoso Downs.
