Dr. Ed Allred bred Chance To Excel in California and consigned him to the 2019 Los Alamitos Equine Sale. Sammy Valeriano purchased Chance To Excel for $45,000, and the gelding races in the name of Valeriano Racing Stables LLC.
Chance To Excel is one of nine winners from 11 starters for the mare Elans Last, an Allred homebred who has also produced stakes winners Chance To Fire and Nymph. The second dam is Elans Special, winner of the 1987 All American Futurity-G1 and an earner of $1,186,540.
The Parsons Family’s homebred Terrific Temper (Tempting Dash-Terrific Energy) finished second. Nicasio’s brother, Eduardo, piloted the filly for trainer Christopher O’Dell. Terrific Temper now has three seconds in her three lifetime starts.
La Jaconde (Favorite Cartel-Jess And Molly), a homebred for the Balgo Racing Team Inc., ran third under jockey Oscar Peinado
for trainer Jaime Gomez. La Jaconde had won three consecutive races, including the Robert Adair Kindergarten Futurity-G2.
Coronas Big Flash (Corona Cartel-Flame N Flash) was fourth and was followed by That’s R Best Card (Docs Best Card-Thatsa Blazin Chick), SC Divas Cartel Man (Corona Cartel- Spit Curl Diva), Jess Lyndes Reason (Good Reason SA-Jess Send Me), Strange Fellow (Seperate Interest-Quirky), Jess Paint Me
