World Champion Danjer just keeps add- ing accomplishments to his already incredible career. When he won the Bank
of America Challenge Championship-G1
at Horseshoe Indianapolis on Oct. 22, he became the first horse ever to win three con- secutive runnings of the race.
Despite the presence of stakes winners from around the country in the Challenge Championship, Danjer, the oldest horse in the field, went off as the 1-9 favorite. Cody Smith, who piloted Danjer in both of his previous Challenge Championship victories, was again aboard the gelding.
Though Smith later said that Danjer slipped slightly leaving the gate, the race almost couldn’t have been easier for the World Champion. He rocketed to the lead, with Smith simply urging him forward and then coasting home. Danjer won by 1 3/4-lengths, and his time of :21.646 was
