P. 10

FROM THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
The Annual Meeting was held January 25, 2018 at the Marriott Hotel in Albuquerque. Mark your calendar for Thursday, January 24, 2019 at the
next Annual Meeting and Awards Banquet. The location will be announced at a later date. I would like to thank Dr. Jason Turner and the County Extension Agents for setting up the booth for the membership to become acquainted with the NM Cooperative Extension Service in New Mexico.
Before the 2017 audit, it shows a net gain of $55,832.00. This was a result of the income from the Stallion Auction held in August prior to the New Mexico Bred Yearling Sale and
the export mare registrations. 2017 members totaled 811. Registrations overall decreased by less than 1%. Affidavits continue to be mailed confirming the accuracy of the information stated on New Mexico Bred applications sub- mitted. There were 273 days of racing in 2017 compared to 272 days in 2016.
SunRay Park was the only racetrack that didn’t average 3 New Mexico Bred races a day excluding trials approved in the spring of 2015 by the New Mexico Racing Commission.
The Trustees worked very hard to cut expenses and maintain the budget of $409,300.00 for 2017.
The Officers for 2018 are President Ralph W. Vincent, 1st Vice President Jay L. Taylor and 2nd Vice President Tom Goncharoff.
I would like to welcome Bill Shepard
of Roswell as the new Quarter Horse
Trustee. Denton Crozier of Hobbs, Mindy J. McArthur of Austin and Thomas W. Pierce
Jr. of Albuquerque as the new Thoroughbred Trustees. Re-elected as Quarter Horse Trustees were Tom Goncharoff of Tularosa and Mac Murray of Veguita. I would like to thank Pierre J. Amestoy Jr., Kevin J. Blach, Brad E. King and Bobby J. McQueen for serving as Trustees whom didn’t seek re-election.
Thanks to Crystal Springs Farm & MJ Farms for hosting the wine and Lazy A Farm for sponsoring the flowers during the Zia Awards Banquet. Violet Herrera was a tremen- dous help setting up the trophies.
Debra J. Laney and Mindy J. McArthur did an awesome job with the Silent Auction. I appreciate Jay L. Taylor for making sure the auction items arrived at the Marriott Hotel on Thursday morning.
