                   Drexler New GM at N. Dakota Horse Park
Hugh Drexler is the new general manager of the North Dakota Horse Park in Fargo. Drexler attended the University of Arizona’s Racetrack Industry Pro- gram and began his career at Turf Paradise where
he worked in many levels of track operation. He interned at Santa Anita Park in California, and as a Breeders’ Cup intern at Churchill Downs in Ken- tucky. Most recently, he served as racing secretary
at Jack Thistledown Racino in Ohio. “The NDRC looks forward to a successful and exciting future for horse racing in Fargo under Hugh’s leadership,” said North Dakota Racing Commission Executive Direc- tor Jack Schulz.
Ontario Quarter Horse Racing Industry Development Program Third-Start Bonus
A bonus of $1,000 will be paid to the owner and trainer of record following the third start for a Quar- ter Horse racing at Ajax Downs in 2022 that has nev- er made a start in Ontario in a previous year. (Excep- tion for 2 year old’s – see Criteria Book) Owners and trainers must submit a 2022 Third-Start Bonus Ap- plication form for each eligible horse to the Quarter Racing Owners of Ontario Inc. (QROOI) along with documented proof of the horse’s three starts. Ap- plications are due to the QROOI office Aug. 31,
and one week after the end of racing. Should a horse be scratched prior to or not finish a race, that race will not be bonus eligible. There is a cap of $10,000 per year payable to each owner or trainer. For more information, please contact the QROOI office at 905-426-7050.
Judi Green
Judith Rae “Judi” Green passed away Jan. 5 at the age of 80. Judi graduated from high school in Ken- newick, Washington, and in 1958 was named Miss Rodeo Washington State. In 1962, she helped her father start SunDowns Race Track in Kennewick, and in 1963 she received her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education and also married Peter Green.

She received her Masters of Bilingual Studies from Texas Women’s University in 1990 and retired in 2003 after 38 years of teaching. Judi was the trainer of several AQHA Youth Champions, was a judge for the AQHA from 1975-1985, and was the breeder, trainer and owner of racehorses with over $1 million in earnings.
John Whipp
Wyoming horseman John Whipp, 79, passed away. Born in Louisville, Kentucky, Whipp attended the University of Kentucky and received an agricultural degree, and then was accepted into their College
of Medicine. In the 70’s, Whipp interned at Camp Pendleton Naval hospital and became a Lieuten-
ant Commander of the U.S. Navy medical corps.
He completed his orthopedic residency at UCLA Medical Center and moved to Wyoming to be a ski doctor. He married Marie Weyer in 1978 and they raised five children on their Wyoming ranch. To- gether they raised/raced over $750,000 in Quarter Horses earners since the 80’s. They have raised many futurity and derby winners and received numerous breeder of the year awards in the state. Whipp was a longtime member of the AQHA.
Denman Glenn Wight
Longtime Idaho horseman Denman “Denny” Wight, 88, passed away. Born in 1933, Wight ex- celled in athletics and was a cowboy from his early years. He spent years serving with the National Guard. Wight married his wife Sandra in 1970, and together with daughter Larke built a ranch south
of Jerome called DSW Ranch. They raised Quarter Horses and raced them in Idaho, with earners of more than $860,000. Among their top horses are: unbeaten from seven starts Illtacmanhattan, who won the Bitterroot Futurity-G3, Beehive Futurity and Sandy Downs Juvenile Challenge; Snazzy Spe- cial Lead, winner of the Bitterroot Futurity-G2 and Northwest Juvenile Challenge-G3; and Northwest Juvenile Challenge-G3 and Pot O’ Gold Futurity winner Princess Of Zoom.
