                 FROM THE PRESIDENT
  Hello Everyone,
Breeding season is behind us and we can all
finally, hopefully, catch our breath and get back to our normal sleep patterns. I think we can agree that it’s always a relief for breeding season to be over yet we can’t wait for it to start again. Anecdotally, I’ve heard that business was up and
busy for most stallions, boarding operations, and veterinarians. This bodes well for next year’s foal crop. Hope all went well for you.
Now, many of you are in the next phase of your business by prepping your yearlings for the upcoming sales. The entries are up a bit for the NM Bred Sale at Ruidoso which is a welcome sign. Hopefully we can duplicate last year’s stellar results.
Speaking of the NM Bred Sale, we will once again be serving a meal on Thursday evening, the day before the sale begins, on August 10th. Folks seemed to really enjoy it last year so if you can, stop by for a bite. Thanks to Norma Alvarez and her excellent team for putting on a great feed.
We will have our annual Town Hall meeting at the sale pavilion at Ruidoso
on July 22nd at 10:00 a.m. This is a great opportunity to have a conversation and share ideas. Please try to attend if you can. And, thanks in advance to the Ruidoso Sale Company for their support.
Our summer party and awards dinner is scheduled for July 22nd at 7:00 p.m. in the Turf Club at Ruidoso. It’s a fun evening and gives us the opportunity to honor our deserving champions. Please RSVP to the office at (505) 262-0224 if you plan on attending so that we can get an accurate head count.
In closing, I’d like to express my gratitude to Mary Barber and Amber Martin. We’ve been short one employee, but you wouldn’t know it judging by the office’s efficiency. Thank you, Mary and Amber, for all of your efforts in keeping things running seamlessly.
Hope to see you soon,
Tom Goncharoff NMHBA President
