Dowhatigotta secured his first stakes victory in the $28,000 La Gran Espectacular Stakes Division 2 at Cochise County Fair.
The gelding broke in second from the 4-post under Kevin Carbajal. The team dueled for the win and was able to get up in time to grab a nose victory at the wire.
They completed the 350 yards in:17.379 to earn a 114 speed index.
Trained by Eloy Navarro, Dowhatigotta scored the $16,240 winner’s share of the purse for owner Jose Aguilar Mendoza, which boosted his total lifetime earnings to $68,789. He now has a race record of 26-5(1)-2-3.
Silver Wings Ranch LLC bred Dowhatigotta out of winner Principal Chick, who was a runner-up in the 2002 Kansas Futurity-G2.
She is a half-sister to multiple winner Principal Feature, who won the Covered Bridge Stakes
in 2009 at Prairie Meadows. Principal Feature was also a runner-up in the Oklahoma Distance Challenge-G3, Will Rogers Distance Challenge, Oklahoma Centennial Stakes and Expo Square Stakes. Principal Chick has produced five winners from seven starters with Dowhatigotta being her first stakes winner.
Dowhatigotta’s third dam is multiple winner Shawnee High, who was second in the Juvenile Invitational Handicap and third in the Pacific Handicap. She has produced 100% winners from five starters.
Feature Me Gorgeous (Giorgino-Rebas Feature) dueled throughout, but just missed under Antonio Bazan. Owned by Adrian Flores, the mare is trained by Eliazar Salas. She was also a runner-up in the Ruidoso Juvenile Challenge-G3. No stranger to stakes events, she was a finalist in the AQHA Juvenile Challenge Championship-G2, Rillito Park Championship, Miss Ellen Stakes, Ruidoso Derby Challenge and Dash For Cash Juvenile.
Sassy Harmony (Jess Good Candy-Sassy Corona) held second throughout the majority of the sprint but couldn’t hold on. She finished third for owner Anti Gravity Customs. The Arnulfo Ascencio Jr. trainee had Jorge Ayon- Quevedo aboard. The filly has won two races from 10 starts.
Royalstellartakeoff (Stel Corona-Jet Takeoff) was fourth and was followed by Jess Zoomin Senator (Louisiana Senator-JZ Annie) and SP Ironwood (Favorite Cartel-Sonora Cartel).

Chocolate Wagon scored a win for his connections on April 21 at Turf Paradise, taking first place in the $30,000 Mark T Bars Stakes
to tally his first victory in stakes company. Adalberto Hernandez owns and bred Chocolate
Wagon, who made his stakes debut in his most recent prior out, the Mark Villa Memorial Stakes at Rillito on April 2, where he finished second.
Chocolate Wagon did not compete at all as a two-year-old and made only one start as a three- year-old. He didn’t score his first win until last December, five outs into the campaign and six starts into his career.
A fast close propelled Chocolate Wagon in this 250-yard sprint. He broke in the middle of the pack from the 8-post, was running third going into the stretch, then grabbed the lead and hit the wire first by a head. Omar Cruz trains Chocolate Wagon, who finished the race in :13.278 for a 101 speed index.
Emilio Tapia was aboard Chocolate Wagon, who reached the winner’s circle for the third time. His career bankroll improved to $48,702 with this $17,856 payday.
Hernandez bred Chocolate Wagon out of Dashing Righter, a very lightly-raced 2008 mare. Skysthalimitcarver (Wave Carver-Lonely Dove) was second under Martin Osuna for owner
Anastacio Marsical Jr. and trainer Vanessa Marquez. Old School Icon (Texas Icon-Cozie Fire) was third under Luis Valenzuela for owner Martha Wells
and trainer Ralph Fales.

Fit), Tres A Jess (One Sweet Jess-Pure Ruby), Thats Whats Up (Dominyun-Looselips Sink Ships), Braker Breaker (Texas Icon-Icebreaker), Soul Sister (FDD Dynasty-Heart An Soul) and Too Sass For You (Favorite Cartel-First Down Sass) followed. Jess Special Ray scratched.

Wildroses101 scored his first stakes win in the $28,500 La Gran Espectacular Division 1 on April 23 at Cochise County Fair.
Ridden by Emilio Tapia, the gelding broke in second from the 7-post, but quickly secured the lead. They crossed the wire 3/4-lengths in front, completing the 350 yards in :16.355 and posting a 114 speed index.
Trained by Ricardo Saldana, Wildroses101 secured the $15,675 winner’s share of the purse for owner Ferrari Racing Stables, boosting his total lifetime earnings to $56,019.
Wildroses101 is no stranger to stakes
races, finishing second in this year’s Wayne Brasher Memorial and Allred Brothers Stakes. He was also third in last year’s Powder River
Vet Derby.
Bryon Gardner bred Wildroses101 out of multiple winner Weeds In My Roses. She has produced 100% winners from two starters with her other starter being Majestic Hero, who races in Canada. Wildroses101 is her first stakes winner and top earner. His second dam, Strike A Rose,
is a half-sister to multiple stakes winner Cartel Rosie, who won the Heritage Place Juvenile, Black Gold 440 Futurity and OHA Mystery Derby. Wildroses101 traces back to his third dam, Long Stemmed Roses, who finished third in the 2004 Denim N Diamonds Handicap. She was also a finalist in the Governor’s Cup Futurity-RG1, PCQHRA Breeders’ Futurity-RG1 and Los Alamitos Million Juvenile Inviational-RG3.
Golden Boy Gonza (Fast Prize Cartel-Dashways) ran a steady and even race to bank second place money for owner Adrian Flores. The Eliazar Salas trainee had Kevin Carbajal in the irons. The
gelding won the 2020 California Breeders’ Sprint Stakes at Los Alamitos. Golden Boy Gonza was also a finalist in the Golden State Derby-G2, Mark Villa Memorial, Arizona Downs Stakes and Catchmeinyourdreams Stakes.
Consider It Done B (The Louisiana Cartel- Shelbys Baby Doll) and jockey Martin Osuna finished third for owner Oscar Pesqueira and trainer Adolfo Armendariz Celaya. The gelding has won three races from nine starts.
JJ Idea Dash (Jess An Idea-Awise Dash), Stel Best Chance (Stel Corona-Just Wanna Be Me), Walk To The Top (Walk Thru Fire-Azoom To The Top) and Big Game Win (Game Patriot-Angels Cartel) completed the order of finish.
