Second Career: Sixes Liaison
Former racehorse Sixes Liaison (Sixes Royal- Streakin Liaison, Streakin La Jolla), a 2008 gray stallion, showed in halter competition
at the Farnam AQHA World Championship Show and was rewarded with a top five finish under the guidance of AQHA Professional Horseman Jason Smith. Sixes Liaison retired from racing with earnings of $169,524 and four wins, including the Grade 1 Sam Houston Futurity. “He’s big enough and pretty enough, I just thought we’d give it a whirl and see what happened,” said owner Ryan Sellers, who also plans to expand Sixes Liaisons’ impact as a
sire. “We raise roping horses and were looking for a horse with speed and size to add to our program. He checked all the boxes. He’s a beautiful individual, I think he’ll do well for us.”
Second Career: Prison Break Pilsner
Two-time race winner Prison Break Pilsner (FDD Dynasty-Lady Knockout, Royal Quick Dash) is now proving himself a successful 1D barrel winner in the arena. The 7-year-old
gelding earned $16,983 racing for owner BM AQ Racing LLC, which included Brian & Traci Bolner and Ramiro Martinez. Traci knew she wanted him to go on to barrels and training began, teaching him how to make turns and run without blinkers, but his habit of jumping and kicking before work remained. “He has carried that trait on. Whenever we go into the warmup, when I hit that long trot, he’ll suddenly rev his engine and jump and fire out the back. Once
he gets that done, he’s all business. He softens down, lopes up into my hand, starts just being right there and flowing,” said his trainer Kimmi Byler, owner of Byler Performance Equine, who plans to step the gelding up to bigger events.
Second Career: Cole E Man
The second career for race winner Cole E Man (Okey Dokey Dale-Streakin Polly Bee, Streakin La Jolla) took him to membership in a record-setting team at the 2021 Wrangler National Finals Rodeo. The 2011 gelding
was part of the team of horses ridden by team ropers Andrew Ward and Buddy Hawkins
when they set a new record for collective times on 10 head of :54.7, breaking the 27-year-old record set by Jake Barnes and Clay O’Brien Cooper. Cole E Man, aka Biscuit, is ridden by header Ward, and earned $160,180 in 2020 including helping Ward qualify to his first NFR. “He’s just smart, and always thinking. He doesn’t really relax much. He’s always
on the move,” said Ward, who also said that Cole E Man is fast and is a master of the early moments of performance with patience and strong bursts of speed.
Second Career: Jubilant Version
2009 gelding Jubilant Version (Holland Ease-The Jubilee Diamond, Runaway Winner), aka JV, competed in five starts in a lackluster race career but has found his place as a Team Roping Champion for owners Clint Summers and his father Darren. At
the 2021 Nutrena Horse of the Year Awards, recognizing ProRodeo’s top timed-event horses, JV tied for third as the Heading Horse of the Year.
