In a sensational juvenile season in 2022, Rock A Jess V has been a model of consistency at the highest levels for Valeriano Racing Stables
LLC. The homebred continued his assault on the division with a powerful performance in winning the $1,209,173 Texas Classic Futurity-G1 at Lone Star Park on Nov. 19.
Ridden by Juan Pulido, Rock A Jess V broke alertly in the 400-yard dash and led
nine rivals. He received some pressure from stablemate Fancy Scarface early, and after shrugging off that bid he kept at bay a late rally from fellow stablemate Turcotte and jockey Bryan Candanosa to prevail by 3/4-lengths over that rival at the finish. Rock A Jess V covered the distance wire-to-wire in :19.500 and earned a speed index of 101 in the impressive victory. The final time was just ticks off Tempting Dash’s 2009 track record of :19.205.
The $538,082 winner’s share of the lucrative purse boosted the gelding’s bankroll
