WMEA - 2018
I was excited to attend the WMEA Choir Festival as I wanted
to experience quality music and performances firsthand. On
4th August 2018, the WMEA Choir Festival was held at New
Delhi. From the festival, I learnt a few tricks to enhance my
own musical performance, such as drawing a line in the air to
visualize the modulation of the performance and also how to
modulate and emphasize using an imaginary thread stitched to
the roof of my mouth.
The performing teams at the festival used their social and
communication skills to connect with the audience using music.
Adding on, the audience was supportive and encouraging. A
well-mannered audience never jeers or ridicules the performer.
At a choir music show, there is usually a conductor. The conductor
waves his/her hand like the above mentioned ‘modulation
lines in the air’. A conductor ‘draws lines’ for pitch, tempo and
modulation. The performing choir follows the conductors lead.
After returning from the festival, I have constantly practised
songs and used various tips and techniques to enhance my
performance.
