    ANATOMY AND PHYSIOLOGY
▪ Bile, a vital digestive fluid, is produced by the liver. –It is composed of bilirubin, bile acids, and cholesterol.
▪ The function of the biliary tree is to provide a conduit for bile to drain from the liver into the small intestine.
–Bile accumulates in the intrahepatic biliary radicles.
–Each portal triad contains a small branch of the hepatic artery, portal vein, and intrahepatic duct (biliary radicle).
