     ANATOMY AND PHYSIOLOGY
▪ These small biliary radicles have bile flowing through them and into either the left or right hepatic duct.
▪ Bile travels a short distance to the gallbladder where is it concentrated and stored.
▪ The gallbladder is attached to the biliary tree by the cystic duct.
– The cystic duct contains tiny structures called the spiral valves of Heister. These small projections keep the cystic duct from collapsing or distending.
