Prayer
Gracious and loving God, we often feel incomplete and separate from you, but in our

minds we know that we are loved by you. Listen to our struggles as we learn and
inevitably stumble in our attempts to see your image in others. Guide us in our loving
support of others with Christ’s example set before us. Give us the comfort of being truly

known and loved as we offer that comfort to others. Amen.

Reflection Questions/Activity

What gets in the way of you showing your authentic self to others? How might you
do that in a way that is also safe for you?

How can you contribute to a culture of seeing the image of God in others as well as
embodying it yourself? What would First Lutheran Church look like if we all
supported that culture?

Find an activity or event in your community that might challenge you to experience a
different culture, a different language or introduce yourself to people who may not look

like you. Attend a PRIDE parade event, volunteer in a prison ministry or go to a Native
American Pow Wow. Find something you can do with your family or others as a way of
supporting you and introducing others to a new experience.
