OATMAN CREEK SENATOR
by Tracy Gantz
Consistent Oatman Creek Senator almost always earns a check in his races, and he put on one of his best performances when he captured the $84,800
Boyd Morris Memorial Stakes-RG3 at Remington Park on May 22.
Sent away as the 3-1 third choice to favored Charlies Fury and Champion Eagles Fly Higher, Oatman Creek Senator broke fourth and improved his position throughout the 400 yards. With Raul Ramirez Jr. aboard, Oatman Creek Senator scored by a 1/2-length in :19.891.
Michael Joiner trains the four-year-old brown gelding for owner Orlando Villa-Barraza. Oatman Creek Senator last year won the All American Invitational Stakes. Cristian Esqueda piloted the 6-year-old gelding, who won this race in 2019. Jorge Torres rode Uncurled Fist (One Famous Eagle-Cruzin The Wagon) to third for owner MJR Investments Ltd and trainer Clinton Crawford. Uncurled Fist most recently ran third in the Bob Moore Memorial Stakes-G2.

FL Lady Bug Stakes-RG3 Div. 1
DOCS DUSTY CARTEL
by Michael Compton
The promising Docs Dusty Cartel hopped slightly at the start of the first division of the $84,800 FL Lady Bug Stakes-RG3 at Remington Park on May 22, but the talented bay colt recovered quickly and powered away from nine rivals in the lane to win the 330-yard dash as he pleased for owner/breeder Dusty Rose Ranch and trainer Stacey Capps.
With Rolando Raudales in the irons, Docs Dusty Cartel darted away from his competition leaving the gate and maintained a clear advantage from start
to finish. Winning as much the best, Docs Dusty Cartel covered the distance in a swift :16.793, earn- ing an 89 speed index.
It was the second straight victory from three career starts for Docs Dusty Cartel who broke his maiden in his previous start on March 26. The $47,880 winner’s share of the purse increased his earnings to $60,960. Bred in Oklahoma, Docs Dusty Cartel is out of Docs Dusty Dale.
“He did break a little up (in the air),” said Raudales. “But he got to kicking very, very fast and he just keeps getting better with every race. I really thought we had the best horse in the racing going in.”
Pevs Charley (One Fabulous Eagle-Miss Okey Dokey Zebi) and jockey Cristian Esqueda finished second. Pevs Charley is owned by Regina Laymon and trained by Kenny Laymon.
JF Storm Wagon (Kool Wagon-Stormy Celebration), ridden by Daniel Torres) finished third for owner Coretta Fobber and trainer Carlos Ruiz.
