Mark Anthony Cook
Mark born in Detroit, MI, the fourth of five children. There is a lot I could say about my baby brother, he was a funny little boy. He knew he would grow up to be some kind of superhero. He liked teenage mutant turtle like his big brother, they often tie towels around their neck to play superman and/or batman. When you saw Dennis, you could bet Mark was on his heels.
Let’s talk basketball, Mark is one of the best basketball coaches I had the pleasure of
watching. During our children’s high school years, we talked after each an every
basketball game. We analyze each team and the players and of course how the coaches
did, including himself. I remember one game against Belleville that did not go as Mark
expected. I was a little late, when I saw the score I knew he was very unhappy. His
reaction to that loss against Belleville gave me another view of what kind of man my
brother and a coach he had became. Instead of punishing the team for their inability
to play the game they have been practicing for weeks. He told them because he was not
able to get them to play their game, that they all would running 40 suicides for the points they lost by. Since he was un- able to get them to make adjustments he and the assistant coach would do 20 suicides. This changed his team prospec- tive of him a coach and mentor. They of course was willing to put in the work and they finish their season winners.
