Feedback on Academic Writing

Learning about academic writing is essential for any student. Feedback is the opinion

or advice that someone else gives about what people do or say. In this case, it is about
academic writing. In my opinion, the feedback is very important for three very important

reasons that are to improve, understand and detect a written.

The first reason of feedback on academic writing is to improve. First of all, this process

helps writers detect every error they have. That is why it is necessary that those who make

the feedback are people who know about the topic. For example, some time ago a
university made an article about what students think about how students act in these

processes. … an investigation that aimed to identify the beliefs about learning and the
feedback of the writing that possessed 58 students of pedagogy in English from four

Chilean universities. The technique used to gather data was a semi structured interview.
A content analysis procedure regarding the interview was employed, in which the

information was codified and categorized by using the qualitative analysis software

ATLAS.ti. (Ochoa, et al., 2017, p. 1119)

Another reason is because people can understand better that they have a lot of ways

to do a good job. Several teachers want to give feedback in a good way but nevertheless
there are students who don’t accept this as a good technique. They feel pressured and

disappointed. (ELT, 2014). Also, students should focus on what they are most interested

in about the topic they write, and give the best of them without abandoning their goals.

The third reason is that people can detect the mistakes. First of all, understanding the

use of feedback students can write better and follow the rules. In addition, there are people
who “…consider that written feedback procedures need to cover written tasks’ strengths

and limitations in order to reinforce learner’s affective factors” (Ochoa, et al., 2017, p.

1120).

To conclude, feedback on academic writing is important to be successful in writing

paragraph or essay. This is because, this feedback must be done by people who understand
