        CPH Specialist Exams Moving Online

In 2021, under the leadership of board chair George Mayo, the CPH board successfully moved the Basic CPH exams
fully online. With the move to online, examinees are offered several one-week windows of opportunity a year in
which to take the exam at his/her own home or place of employment.

The time has come to move the Specialist Exams to an online format as well, beginning with the Weeds and Weed
Management Exam. Anyone that has successfully passed the CPH Basic exam is eligible to sit for the Weeds and
Weed Management Specialist CPH Exam. This exam will be very similar in format to the Basic Exam, including a
multiple-choice section as well as a write-in plant identification section. Registrants will be provided with a plant
study list for the exam. A list of additional recommended study references will be provided.
The first opportunity to sit for the Weeds and Weed Management Exam will be October 7-11, 2024. Registration will
        open in late August.

The CPH Board plans to launch a second specialist exam in 2025.
The MNLGA extends its appreciation to the CPH board, which includes members from all sectors of ornamental
horticulture AND our partners at the Maryland Department of Agriculture and University of Maryland Extension.
Thank you, team, for helping move this program forward.
