How Do We Define Trauma?
Any situation that leaves you feeling overwhelmed and alone can be traumatic, even if it doesn't involve physical harm.
Traumatic Stress can occur after a significant incident that is out of the ordinary or when people consider them to be 'abnormal' compared to their expectations and beliefs.
The traumatic incident may have long since passed and been forgotten, but the symptoms of trauma can appear immediately, later or both.
TRAUMA is NOT a mental health condition, it is the SYMPTOMS of UNRESOLVED TRAUMA that are the mental health issues.
