Anton Paar Presents the Most Versatile Platform
for Dynamic Mechanical Analysis (DMA) and Rheology
– the New MCR 702 MultiDrive
Source: Anton Paar
The new MCR 702 MultiDrive is a dynamic mechanical analyser based on the renowned MCR rheometer technology. It is equipped with a rotational motor
and a linear motor, which enables the full range of dynamic materials analysis, from the solid to the liquid state, which is especially applicable to polymers.
MCR 702 MultiDrive is the most versatile and powerful platform for dynamic mechanical analysis, currently available. The device combines a completely new linear motor with the renowned EC motor technology from MCR rheometers. This state-of-the-art linear motor makes it possible to perform dynamic mechanical analysis in bending, tension, and compression, as well as thermomechanical analysis (TMA), with one instrument.
DMA and More
The four possible types of analysis are dynamic mechanical analysis in axial direction (classical DMA), dynamic mechanical analysis in torsion, thermomechanical analysis, and a broad range of rheological measurements.
Unique Motor Design
The unique design of the rotational motor, based on the air bearing technology exclusively developed by Anton Paar, guarantees extraordinary sensitivity and thus the most precise results. The linear motor is designed with an advanced material selection which shows almost no effects of magnetic hysteresis. This enables highly precise measurements over a broad force range up to 40N, and over the complete displacement range up to 9.4mm, in order to characterise soft and stiff materials as precisely as possible.
State-of-the-art Measuring Systems
A linear optical encoder is used in the measuring device to determine the displacement. This optical technology allows stable
strain measurements with resolutions in the subnanometer range.
The innovative CFD-optimised design of the measuring systems guarantees negligible temperature gradients inside the sample, which is essential when highly accurate and reliable results are required. Each measuring system includes an integrated temperature sensor, close to the clamped sample, in order to measure the actual sample temperature with the highest reproducibility over the complete temperature range.
When changing measuring geometries, the proven QuickConnect coupling provides great ease of use. This quick-fitting coupling ensures fast, convenient measuring geometry changes, without a screwing mechanism or any need of additional alignment procedures. ToolmasterTM is a completely contact-free automatic tool recognition and configuration system, for the detection of all measuring systems, available for the MCR 702 MultiDrive.
The new MCR 702 MultiDrive opens up new possibilities in dynamic mechanical material characterisation.
