Why Investing in Dust-Free Sanding Equipment is so Important
The dust that painting and decorating professionals inhale whilst sanding surfaces is one of the
most common health and occupational hazards;
it contaminates the lungs and slows down the professionals’ work processes. According to WorkSafe NSW, the result of wood dust exposure can be skin disorders such as allergic dermatitis, asthma and impaired lung function, nose irritation, rhinitis (runny nose), violent sneezing, blocked noses and nose bleeds, throat irritation, sore and watering eyes and potentially nasal cancer. Just how badly it affects each person depends on
the type of dust inhaled and where exactly in the respiratory tract it lingers.
As more information comes to light on this topic, the building industry is finally starting to look at how they can make the workplace healthier for their employees. This includes investing in dust-free sanding products such as those developed by Finnish brand Mirka®.
