Recognition awards also were awarded to Chloe Higgins (trained by Karl Underwood) and John Stratigos (trained by Robertson’s Remedial and Painting).
It was great to see so much support from our apprentices’ families, TAFE teachers and host trainers.
An Update on Our Pre- Apprenticeship Programs
Throughout 2018, Master Painters increased its focus on the three-day Pre-Apprenticeship Program. As
a result, we facilitated two to three Programs per month. Our teacher, Paul Vella, has inspired and encouraged hundreds of students, dedicating
a great deal of time and effort into providing the training and skills students require before they enter our craft and industry as apprentices.
We have also placed many enthusiastic, motivated apprentices with our host trainers this year, with an increased percentage of mature age apprentices and females accepting the available places.
Master Painters has been heavily involved in talks with various local council groups, PCYC (Police Citizens Youth Clubs) and careers advisors regional network meetings to source more places for more apprentices.
As a result, we have seen a large
increase in the number of apprentices starting new apprenticeships. This can only be good for the future of our industry and trade.
