Building The Sport Of Steak Cookoffs!
 Merry SCA Christmas
Winding down this year, it’s hard to believe we are already in December. After the year we all had in 2020, 2021 seemed like a breeze that has blown by. Being back to almost nor- mal, we have continued to grow and add events week after week. The points chase in both ancillaries and steaks have been ex- tremely exciting to watch, with only a few weeks left, we’re on the edge of our seats. So, when it comes to our Christmas list for Santa, there really isn’t much we can put on it.
But if we were to make one to send to the North Pole, it would consist of continued blessings for our cooks, judges, reps and promoters. You all have continued to support the SCA with your participation, suggestions and excited support every week. Also on the list would be the uncompro- mising support for all the non-profit organizations the events have raised money for around the country. One last thing in our letter to Santa would
be that 2021 goes out with a great bang and 2022 is full of even more blessings for the en- tire SCA Family. As we wind down 2021, our wish for you is continued great cooks.
Business Partner
This time of year, we like to look back at our blessings and when it comes to our business partners, we are extremely blessed. We have our points chase sponsors, ACE Hardware who has been with us for years and Hassell
Cattle Company who came on new this year to sponsor our Ancillary chase. Allow me to take a moment to list the rest of them: B&B Charcoal, PK Grills, Grill Grates, Hasty Bake Charcoal Grills, Route 83, Kosmos, M Grills, Green Mountain Grills, Best Damn BBQ Sauce, National BBQ News, Tribal Fire Grills, Cotton Gin Smokers, Duck Fat, Maverick, VooDoo Roast- ers Coffee Company, Fully Promoted and Flame Boss. We are extremely blessed to have the support of such an array of sponsors and ask you to support them as well. You will receive your grilling blessings when you do.
Event Spotlight
We aren’t highlighting just one event this month but three! Every week- end this month, except Christmas weekend, there are some great events all over the country. From California to South Carolina and all points in between promoters are hosting some great events. But the last weekend of the year is hosting three multiple steak cooks to grill out the old year and grill in the new. In Salem, Oregon there will be the Best Damn Quintuplet with promoter Mike White. If the Pacific Northwest is a bit too cold for you, then there’s the triple Flying Bull Bash in Rockford, IA. What makes this cook so unique is on December 31st you will be turning in steaks A&B but at midnight, to ring in the new year, you’ll turn in steak C. Contact JT Turnbill for more information. However, if warmer weather is what you’re looking for, Brooksville, FL will be the place for you. Chuck & Kitty Dolin have a quad put together for you sunshine lovers to send out the old year and bring in the new year with some great steaks and some unique ancil- laries, fitting for the New Year’s weekend.
Hassell Cattle Company’s Ancillary Points Chase
Time is running out to catch Tona Pendray as she seeks to capture the new SCA Ancillary Points Championship. She has continued to stretch her lead over Kyle Matuszewski and Will Collier, who will have to battle, it seems for second place. The middle of the pack consisting of Lori Davis, Rylee Wright, Bobby Oliver and Catherine Noble, all have time to shuffle around but this will depend on getting out to the contests remaining. The battles to keep an eye on are spots 8 through 10. Cooks, Whitney Hampson, Bran- don Crain, and Randy McKnight all have to not only battle their way up amongst themselves but also have to keep those not in the Top 10 at bay. This new ancillary points chase emphasis has been nothing short of excit- ing. We are looking forward to how this year ends and watch all of them compete in March.
ACE Hardware Steak Points Chase
It can’t get much closer than what we’re witnessing in the ACE Hardware Steak Points Chase. It seems we have ties all the way down to the 8th spot.
