It doesn’t feel
like that long
ago that Bob
Dylan crooned
the words ‘The
Times They
Are-a
Changin’. And
let’s face it,
things have
never felt more
like that than
now. With the
way technol-
ogy is increasing exponentially every day, it won’t be long before we have hover boards, flying cars, and self-lacing sneakers. We al- ready have BBQs that can run themselves. But I digress.
One man who has reached out to the gods of technology and wel- comed the nanobots is Reyan Fernando, content creator and the man behind the Rib Appreciation Society. With their home base being on Instagram, the Rib Appreciation Society presents ‘The BBQ & Brews Show’ every Saturday night. Reyan interviews vari- ous pitmasters, pitbuilders, rub manufacturers and more. Guests have included John from JD’s Kitchen, Desi and Irene from Come Grill With Me and Richard from Little Brixton.
If there were one word to describe The BBQ & Brews Show, it would be ‘authentic’. Given that the show is done entirely on the Instagram platform, it means that the production is quite stripped
back. However, rather than that being a hin- drance, Reyan is the kind of host who turns that into an advantage. The interviews are raw, real and authentic, with the guest stripped back and presenting their stories without the grandiosity and brag- gadocio that can creep in in other formats. The interviews are also all done live, so what you see is what you get -
there’s no op- portunities for do-overs.
Now, The BBQ & Brews Show isn’t the only thing Reyan puts together. He’s also on an endless pursuit for the perfect rack of ribs, hence the
name of his channel. And I have to say, the man knows his ribs. In addition to his show, he also cooks the most outrageously good looking BBQ dishes and presents incredibly morish looking pho- tos and videos of his creations. Some of his most recent culinary adventures include Creamy Chicken and Bacon Pies, Beef Cheeks, Reverse Seared Tri Tip and of course, Homemade Bacon.
So do yourself a favour, head on over to Instagram and give The Rib Appreciation Society a follow. And be sure to tune in every Saturday night for the live interviews.
Oh, and Bob Dylan released ‘The Times They Are a-Changin’ in 1964 - nearly 58 years ago. So yeah, it was a while ago. So move with the times and tune in to The BBQ & Brews Show today.
