Welcome our two new Board Members!
John Scharffbillig
I have been part of the Minnesota Barbeque Society for many years. In the past I have served on the board as Pres- ident and Education Chair among other positions. I have also enjoying being the Spring Training Workshop coordi- nator since its inception. In addition, I have been involved with the Minnesota in
May contest, primarily
in charge of Judges, for
many years. I hope my
year off the board has
allowed for new mem-
bers to present new en-
ergy and ideas. I did
remain active in that
year and stayed in-
volved with both Spring
Training and Min-
nesota in May, among
other activities. I am
happy to be back to
continue the Society’s
mission of education
and promotion of the
sport of BBQ.
Jason Wagner
My name is Jason Wagner. First, I would like to thank you for the opportunity to serve you on the Minnesota BBQ So- ciety Board.
Our team Wags Backwoods BBQ is composed of myself, my wife Amanda, daughter Emma, and son Aidan. We first got started in BBQ about 15 years ago at a local contest in my hometown. We competed in many backyard and small town contests, as well as the occasional KCBS contest for the
first few years. In 2018 we started competing in the KCBS Master Series. I also have been organizing our local BBQ contest at our county fair for the past 6 years.
I hope to use my experience starting at the backyard level and transitioning into Master Series contests, as well as my experience organizing contests, to help the Minnesota BBQ Society to continue their mission to promote and enhance
the art of outdoor cooking.
Thank you again for the opportunity to serve you on the Minnesota BBQ Society board. I look forward to working with the board and members to continue the growth of competition BBQ in Minnesota. Good luck to everyone in 2022, and we will see you out on the BBQ trail!
On behalf of the Board and the entire membership, we want to thank outgoing board members Dan Fagerlind and Randy Ward for all they have done the past three years. The time, energy, ideas, and support have been appreci- ated. We know this isn’t a goodbye, just a see you soon.
