As an avid college football fan, I am looking forward to this season more than ever before! My heart skipped a few beats with the news that several major schools had decided to postpone all Fall sports until the Spring of 2021. I am now able to function again normally after getting confirmation from several creditable sources that tell me we will be watching football this Fall.
Although I am beyond excited at the news above, my mind is wondering how different the season will be without all of the fans actually attending these games. Tailgating, parties, and huge gatherings surely will change this year due to our current circum- stances. I wonder what the hit show "College Gameday" is going
to look like without the thousands of fans in the background every Saturday morning.
This thinking is what our September 2020 cover is all about: Homegating! Home- gating is simply a family tail- gate party hosted in your home or backyard instead of the stadium parking lot. These events often turn out to be much more comfort- able as the travel to and
from the game is non-existent. The view from your couch or fa- vorite recliner during the game can be an added bonus as well.
A huge tip of the cap to a long time friend and pitmaster extraor- dinaire Damon Holter (Croix Valley Sauce and Rub CEO) as he has shared several very unique homegating recipes inside the current issue of Barbecue News Magazine. His super grilling and barbe- cue skills have been on display for the past several years via his social media pages, where you can often find him and wife Lu sharing tons of recipes and techniques that can up your barbecue or grilling game. We hope to have more coming from Damon in the coming months as we prepare to homegate like never before during the 2020 college football season.
