When thinking about the upcoming Thanksgiving hol- iday, I am reminded of just how thankful I am. In a year consumed with constant tur- moil, I have realized that my family and I have tons of things to be thankful for.
My wife Janet jokingly re- minded me I am half a cen- tury old! I was already feeling old and worn out before that comment was made, but regardless, I

managed to laugh at the thought of getting old. I simply replied back to her with, “It could always be worse.” My friend Vic Clevenger wrote a fantastic article a few months ago titled “Life is Full of Lemons,” where he explained how things can indeed get worse. Getting old is rough, but I am beyond thankful...yet again...just to be around to experi- ence this thing called life.
When our 30th Anniversary tour started back in January, I knew this would be a very different year for my family and me. With 30 plus weeks of travel planned from coast to coast to celebrate with our barbecue family, there was going to be a ton of telephone calls and virtual hugs from the road. Even though the tour had to be postponed until March of 2021, I would not trade the extra time I spent with my family over the summer. Thankful...yet again.
I surely hope you and yours have a great Thanksgiving. Thank you in advance for reading this and all of the excel- lent submissions that make up Barbecue News Magazine. Without your support, we would not exist and would not be getting excited about 2021. For all of that, I am yet again...Thankful!
