If you want some BBQ entertainment that is squarely fo- cused on all that is good and positive in the world of BBQ, then I’d like to in- troduce you to The BBQ Beat Podcast, hosted by Kevin Sandridge. with Jon Jackson men- tioned above allowed Kevin the opportunity to honour his own father’s life of service in the US Army (Will Sandridge, Chief Warrant Officer - US Army Retired). And BBQ has also allowed Kevin to connect with other mem- bers of his family. He and his brother Steve have judged at the annual Col- orado BBQ Challenge in Frisco several times, and he’s also had the opportu- nity to connect with other family members in Lex- ington, NC.
Kevin brings a calm-
ing balance to the
podcasting world with his laid-back presentation style. Listening to his episodes is like listening in on a conversation between two old friends sitting around, having a beer and talking ‘Q. In fact, watching his socials, I think I’ve seen more than one photo of ex- actly that! This relaxed style lets Kevin get to the hidden stories that his guests have - he deftly bypasses the standard tropes and elevator pitches. He’s able to get past the stories that most people have already heard about and draws out the stories that his guests have always wanted to share but have rarely, if ever, had the chance.
A great example of this is Kevin’s personal favourite episode: an interview with former US Army Ranger Jon Jackson of Comfort Farms in Milledgeville, Georgia. In this episode, Kevin gets to the heart of Jon’s passion - helping his former veterans and his com- munity come together in ways
Kevin’s expertise in BBQ and his carefully curated podcast have led him perhaps one of the most amazing experiences of his life. In 2019 he was invited to be a judge at the annual Jack Daniel’s World Championship Invitational barbecue competition. Under- standably, it’s been the highlight of his professional career, and one that I’m not afraid to say I’m just a little bit jealous of!
Without doubt, The BBQ Beat Podcast is one that you need in your playlist. But don’t just take my word for it. The BBQ Beat was recently awarded by the NBBQA for the third year running. To be awarded is a great achievement. To be consistently awarded is truly incredible!

that nurture and heal through his non-profit initiative. And then of course there’s the story of his farm, and his connections to BBQ!
