Happy May, my friends. I hope you're safe, well, and doing your best to make lemonade out of lemons during this time of shelter at home and social distancing! We are in ex- traordinary times as the globe faces the havoc that the coronavirus has bestowed upon all of humankind.
For the first time in at least a decade BBQ has become secondary in my world, as I'm sure it has for you. I know we are in uncertain times with events being postponed or cancelled, but it is a necessary measure so that we may re- turn to some semblance of normalcy in the months to come. Please remember to support our business members, when and if possible, as they support us yearly in a myriad of ways; this is our chance to offer support to them
Rick Brandini named this
year’s KCBS Gary Wells
Sportsmanship award recipient.

The Gary Wells KCBS Sportsmanship Award is awarded to a member who exhibits the ex- ceptional qualities of the true barbeque sportsman. This award is given to a KCBS member who displays a high level of fairness, generosity, good character, observance of the rules and sportsmanship at one or more KCBS barbeque contests.
We are pleased to announce Rick Brandini of Gilroy, CA as this year's recipient of the Gary Wells Sportsmanship award. Rick has been a loyal KCBS member for 8 years. He was nom- inated for his generosity, fairness and good character and observance of rules.

during these uncertain fiscal times.
As soon as the social distancing order is lifted, some of us are planning to reconnect at a practice cook and campout at Cachuma Lake (hopefully in May or June). Stay tuned for details!
It seems likely that our world will be changed by this, the ways in which remain unknown for now. But what I do know is that we, as a BBQ family and community, are resilient and will soon be sharing time together around the smoke. Continue to be safe and I will see you next month from the corner.
