 Kids Q Too!
While most would agree that the world of BBQ isn’t the same today as it was not so long ago, don’t tell these kids! They’re just out here having fun.
Kids from all over Minnesota and surrounding states are just as excited as the rest of us to be outside with friends and family, cooking over fire, and enjoying the fruits of their labor. What a joy it is to be able to bring a child up in the ways of smoke and meat. This year we’ve enjoyed watching these kids compete and learn some valuable life lessons: working hard, planning, adapting, team work, win- ning (and not winning), time management, using tools... the list goes on. We encourage you to continue to spend time sharing this great passion of BBQ and grilling with those closest to you. You’ll never regret teaching someone to cook a good meal for you!
Minnesota in May
Minnesota in May BBQ Competition was back in May and
we couldn’t have asked for a better a weekend! This year featured 100 teams doing BBQ battle in the Masters and Backyard competitions on Saturday, May 8th, 2021 at the Isanti County Fairgrounds in Cambridge, MN. However, the weekend truly kicked off on Friday evening with a heap of fun events: One Meat Rib Contest, Turkey Smoke Series Cookoff, and of course the Compart Family Farms Kids Q Challenge!
With 15 young backyard chefs tending to the fire, there were some amazing smells to be enjoyed as you watched these kids cooking up some fine Compart Duroc pork ten- derloin. Each kid was provided a 1/3 loin and a small grill to work their magic. Needless to say, the results were awe- some from all these young chefs, but rising to the top in their age group were two stars that claimed victory:
Congratulations to Peyton Martens (age group 4-10) and Sutton Rueter (age group 11-17) for their delicious BBQ pork loins!
