Flu is Contagious
Most healthy adults may be able to infect other people beginning 1 day before symptoms develop and up to 5 to 7 days a er becoming sick. Children may pass the virus for longer than 7 days. Symptoms start 1 to 4 days a er the virus enters the body. That means you may be able to pass on the u to someone else before you know you are sick, as well as while you are sick. Some people can be infected with the u virus without having any symptoms. During this me, those persons may s ll spread the virus to others.
Vaccina ons – Who Should Get Them?
There are two types vaccina ons – u shot and nasal spray vaccine.
Flu Shots are approved for people as young as 6 months of age and up. Nasal Spray Vaccines are approved for use in people 2 years through 49 years of age.
Before ge ng a u shot, employees should be advised to check with their doctor as to which preven on vaccine is right for them.
Reduc on of the chances of infec on:
Strategically place hand sani zers throughout the facility. Put up posters about hand washing and covering the mouth when sneezing.
