This thermal pool is known as the Bluey due to its cobalt blue colour. It collects water flowing out from the nearby geysers. The water is highly alkaline and is usually between a temperature of 30 and 50 degrees centigrade.
The kiwi is an endangered nocturnal flightless bird and the national icon. We filed through its dark 'house' when it was feeding but came away somewhat underwhelmed!
