After a two day stopover in Singapore to rest and recuperate, we flew to Auckland arriving early on Saturday 2nd February where our detailed itinerary, provided by Audley Travel, proudly announced that our adventure had begun!
Our trip through North Island was by hire car, but first we had two days at leisure to explore in Davenport and Auckland.
In keeping with our request to stay mainly in bijou bed and breakfast accommodation, we arrived at Judy's Peace and Plenty Inn in Davenport to settle in. After a quick shower we set out to explore our surroundings on a beautiful summer's day.
Situated on the north shore of Auckland, Davenport is a seaside suburb with a charming village flavour. It is only a ten minute ferry ride to Auckland and there were stunning views over Waitemata Harbour to Auckland's central business district. First, we decided to take a long walk to North Head enjoying the sight of families fishing, sunbathing, swimming or having barbecues in the nearby park.
