Our last couple of nights were spent in some luxury at the architecturally modern Rees Hotel with its landing stage and lakeside location. Named after William Gilbert Rees, the pioneer settler and founder of Queenstown, every room had a balcony with a stunning mountain view. From here it was a 2 km lakeside walk to the centre of town or a fast water taxi ride to the harbour.
