ORA Partner Insights: ERC Application
Congress passed the Employee Retention Tax Credit (ERC) at the start
of the COVID-19 pandemic, but the tax credit went overlooked by businesses because of initially strict limitations. The ERC process is complex, but this session will explain how this exceptionally generous program works, key eligibility rules and deadlines, and how restaurants can maximize their refunds. The ERC rules and limitations have changed substantially since it was first introduced, and now, the ERC is an incredibly generous refund to businesses on their previously paid payroll taxes—including restaurants. The vast majority of restaurants are eligible, and most could see substaintial IRS refunds. The ERC allows businesses to get a refund of 2020 and 2021 payroll taxes (FICA, Medicaid, etc), to help businesses impacted by local and state government orders from COVID that affected business operations (capacity restrictions, cleaning requirements, masking rules, etc). This session is intended for restaurant owner/operators, in-house finance/accounting personnel, and Human Resources professionals.
Presenter: Mike Hajjar (ERC Application)
