Page 22 - The Ancestry of Francis Bryan (1770-1863)
P. 22
William Bryan, Sr. lived to be 104 and lived most of those years in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia in the Roanoke region. He did not leave a will. Therefore we do not have complete documentation of all of his children.
There is good documentation of at least four of William and Margaret's children. There is also documentation of a fifth (Margaret) and strong historical suggestions of a sixth, David Bryan. It is not known if William had more than one wife. DNA suggests that he probably did as some of his children appear to be half siblings to others.
The following is from Bryan Wills & Deeds by Lindsay M Brien, p. 27. (6)
Note that Margaret Bryan married Joseph Love, not James Love.
I decided to take a different approach in assessing my relationship to William and Margaret. I decided to build a new Ancestry.com family tree based purely on the suggested connections given to me by Ancestry’s ThruLines. I then attached my DNA test and the DNA tests of both of my siblings to that new tree.
BINGO! It was pointing me right to them!
And so I started to search for a possible daughter or granddaughter that could be a mother to Francis.
There was only one possibility. Margaret Bryan.
