 IS MARGARET BRYAN FRANCIS' MOTHER?
Margaret Bryan was born around 1730, probably in Augusta, Virginia. She is the daughter of William Bryan, Sr. (1685-1789) and Margaret Strode (born 1682, date of death unknown). DNA confirms this connection.
Margaret Bryan is not related by blood to Francis Bryan’s father. Both she and Francis’ father are Bryans but from different YDNA lines of Bryans.
Margaret first married Joseph Love, Sr. (1725-1758) in 1749. I have not found documentation of a second marriage.
She had three sons with Joseph: William Love (1750-1815), Joseph Love, Jr. (1751-1831) and John Love (1753-1830).
Joseph Love, Sr. was killed in an Indian attack in March of 1758.
Margaret’s sons, Joseph Love, Jr., William Love and John Love were all bound out to other families after their father’s death.
Children were considered "orphans" if their father died, even if the mother was alive and capable of raising the children. It was normal for these "orphaned" children to be bound out to other families as apprentices, to learn a trade, after the death of the father. I have a more detailed description of this process in the Appendix on page 115.

And so I added Margaret Bryan, daughter of Margaret Strode and William Bryan, Sr, as the mother of Francis Bryan.

CLUE # 3
It takes approximately 24 hours for the Ancestry computer algorithm to do its work. It takes much longer if it doesn’t “like” your suggestions! Or it won’t show any connections if it can’t find any.
