So, how do the groups relate to my hypotheses?
Hypothesis #1: I was interested in confirming my family's relationship to William Bryan, Sr. and Margaret Strode.
Group One and the turquoise dot: There are many matches in common between Francis, Joseph and Morgan Bryan and the William Bryan descendant. This descendant most likely descends from William's first wife and not from Margaret Strode. The results confirm a relationship to William Bryan but do not answer the question of our relationship to Margaret Strode. The results do suggest that William's daughter, Margaret Strode Bryan, is indeed the mother of Francis, Joseph and Morgan.
Hypothesis #2: I was interested in confirming Joseph Bryan and Morgan William Bryant as brothers to Francis Bryan. Are Joseph and Morgan THE Joseph and Morgan mentioned by Clyde Bryan Eldridge in her family history? Is Margaret Strode Bryan the mother of Francis Bryan? And the mother of Joseph and Morgan?
Group Two and the pink dot: There are many matches between Francis, Joseph and Morgan that exclude matches to sister Peggy and to the William Bryan descendant. The results suggest that Francis, Joseph and Morgan are closely related. Since it excludes Peggy, who had a different mother, it suggests that the brothers all shared the same mother. Among the pink matches are verified Strode descendants with whom we match. It therefore helps to verify our relationship to Margaret Strode.
Hypothesis #3: Finally I was interested in finding out if Margaret (Peggy) Bryan was a full or a half sister to Francis, Joseph and Morgan. ThruLines suggests that she is a half sister. If she is a half sister then she would NOT be related to the William Bryan descendant.
Group Five and the orange and purple dots: There are very few matches of any significance between sister Peggy Bryan's descendant and the descendant of William Bryan. The results suggest that Peggy had a different mother than Francis, Morgan and Joseph.
Group Three and Group Four do not directly relate to any one of my hypotheses.
Group Three (bright green dot) looks at the ICW matches between Francis and ALL of his siblings, two brothers and one sister. Quite a few bright green dots! The results suggest that Francis, Joseph and Morgan AND Peggy are closely related. These matches would represent their relationship to Thomas Bryan, as he is their only mutual parent.
