Morgan Bryan, Sr. and Martha Strode moved to the Bryan Settlement from Virginia in 1748 with all of their living children, except Joseph Bryan, Sr. Their daughter Mary had passed away just before their move. Joseph, Sr. followed them at a later date. Their property in North Carolina was known as The Bryan Settlement. It was on the Forks of the Yadkin River (Shallow Ford).
In 1790 Francis Bryan is found living in the heart of The Bryan Settlement . He is listed as living in close proximity to Joseph Bryan, Sr., Joseph Bryan, Jr. and Samuel Bryan, the Tory. Joseph Bryan, Sr. and Samuel Bryan were sons of Morgan Bryan, Sr. and Martha Strode.
