Page 97 - The Ancestry of Francis Bryan (1770-1863)
P. 97

We know that prior to 1790 Francis was in Southwestern Virginia working for Thomas Blair. Is it possible that Francis left his apprenticeship with Thomas Blair in 1790 and went to the Bryan Settlement region because his mother was ill? If so, he left his apprenticeship early, at age 20, rather than the usual age of 21.
If Thomas Bryan did die earlier (1779) rather than later (1790), did Margaret move to The Bryan Settlement to be closer to her relatives? She was second cousin to Joseph Bryan, Sr. and Samuel Bryan.
So much of our "family lore" can be explained as partially correct, partially just shy of being correct and partially incorrect, which is usually the case.
