Re: Proposal for Geotechnical Field Investigation Services
Villas at Savona
955 E Knox Road
Chandler, Arizona 85225
Amec Foster Wheeler Environment & Infrastructure, Inc. (Amec Foster Wheeler) presents herein
a scope of work, work-hour estimate and cost proposal for the performance of a geotechnical field
investigation for the planned grout compaction located at various locations within the Villas at
Savona complex located in Chandler, Arizona. The labor rates and unit costs used in this
proposal are in conformance with the Amec Foster Wheeler 2015 Rate Schedule.
1.0 INTRODUCTION AND PROJECT UNDERSTANDING
Project specifics were provided by Carl Heerup, Heerup Engineering, PC (Heerup), via a phone
calls and e-mails on November 19 & 20, 2015. The Villas at Savona is currently experiencing
settlement issues at various buildings within the complex. It is understood that compaction
grouting is being considered for the mitigation of the settlement. Mr. Heerup has requested Amec
Foster Wheeler perform the field investigation for the proposed mitigation; including test borings
and soil sample collection, laboratory testing, and a geotechnical report in order to determine the
depth of soft soils below the existing building foundations. A site plan provided by Heerup is
attached as Figure. A detailed scope of work is provided below.
2.0 SCOPE OF WORK
2.1 Preparation for Field Investigation
Prior to starting the on-site subsurface exploration program, Arizona Blue Stake will be contacted
to locate buried utilities. As this is on private property, private utility location services are also
included in this scope. Prior to mobilizing to the field, a project-specific site health and safety plan
will be developed for the field investigation program. The plan will identify and discuss methods
of mitigating hazards associated with working around excavation equipment in populated areas.
Amec Foster Wheeler understands that Environmental Clearance or access permits will not be
required. Our proposal does not include any effort associated with obtaining these items. It is
anticipated that traffic control will not be necessary given the residential nature of the roadways.
It is anticipated that Amec Foster Wheeler and subcontract drilling field personnel will have access
to the site during daytime weekday hours.
