stimulating multimedia experience includes more than 300 objects from David Bowie’s personal archives, including handwritten lyrics, original costumes, photographs, album cover designs and other rare material from his 50-year career. Together with films and music videos, the exhibition offers visitors a unique, first-time look at materials from every phase of David Bowie’s career.
As well as its obvious appeal to Bowie fans, for Vintage lovers, the exhibition is a unique insight into the culture of the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s, showing Bowie’s collaborative work with diverse designers in the fields of fashion, sound, graphics, theatre and film, and the way his work has both influenced and been influenced by wider 20th century movements in art, design, theatre and contem- porary culture.
Around 300,000 people visited David Bowie is... while it was in London, before its international tour took it to Toronto, São Paulo, Berlin, Chicago, Paris and Melbourne. And I suspect there will be a huge surge of interest in The Netherlands event in the wake of Bowie’s death. Obviously, there is no way of knowing how long tickets will be available, but for the first time tickets are on sale online to avoid disappointment and the long queues as much as possible. In addition the museum will be open for an extra hour every day and is also open during the holidays, on Friday nights and on Mondays during school holidays.ve www.groningermuseum.nl/en/David-Bowie-Is
