HIGH EX-SPEC-TATIONS
There are so many spectacle frames that need good homes. Aunty Muriel’s cats’ eyes once so derided are now sought after by eager vintage lovers everywhere. Those NHS
specs your mum made you wear – someone, somewhere,
is coveting those right now.
So, if you want to help give a home to a pair of cool vintage glasses, then where better to go than Dead Men’s Spex? Browse through the website and find everything from a pair of early 20th Century round frames or Pince Nez, to black framed 1940s utility styles, big chunky Michael Caine style 60s glasses, or a dainty pair of 50s rhinestone encrusted bat wings. Any frames you buy can be expertly fitted with prescription lenses by the brilliant team,
so, next time you need some new specs, shun the high street and repro and go for some originals. You can buy directly from their website or catch them in person at the Milton Keynes Vintage Extravaganza on Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th of March. www.deadmensspex.com
Bigger Better Bridport
After a winter break, we’re glad to hear that Bridport Art and Vintage Sundays are kicking off again, this year on Easter Sunday (27th March)
at the usual spot of St. Michaels in Bridport. To build on the success of
the previous markets, this year’s plans include artist studios and artisan workshops opening their doors for the day to showcase the great diversity of trades operating within the unique St. Michael’s community. Of course there will be a return of the regular collectors and vintage stalls, food, music and the famous Red Brick Café – some things just can’t be improved on!
The general expansion of workspaces with exciting new ventures on St. Michael’s has also prompted some extra events during the Summer months, for example throughout July and August St. Michael’s will be holding late night shopping evenings, which will take place every Thursday till 8.30pm. www.bridportantiques.co.uk/vintage-market
  LOVE LONDON
Clerkenwell Vintage Fashion Fair has been running since 2009, and in 2015 was a winner of a coveted Time Out ‘Love London Award’. This is a real testament to the quality of this popular fair which regularly has over 50 stalls of menswear, women’s wear, accessories and textiles, and is a favourite amongst design teams from international fashion houses, stylists and vintage lovers alike. In the warm up to London Fashion Week, their February fair celebrates the original designs that inspire the fashion houses today. Expect to pick up 20th century labels including Dior, Ossie Clark, Biba and Courrèges. But, don’t worry if you can’t quite stretch to a designer number, there’s always something
for to fit the budget with prices starting at just £5. When you’re all shopped out, rest your feet in their charming Tea Room or maybe have a manicure in the pop up nail bar. Then you can even visit the bespoke on-the-spot alterations team so your purchase fits like a glove. They’re offering a special ‘2 for 1’ entry to our readers on Valentine’s Day so don’t forget to take a copy of the magazine along with you! www.clerkenwellvintagefashionfair.co.uk
