VENEWS
VINTAGE LOVERS We’ll be offering a hearty
congratulation to Vintassion
this Valentine’s Day when they
celebrate their third anniversary!
Founded on 14th February 2013
by Martin and Tricia Evans, they
have made it their mission to
share their passion for vintage
with others from across the UK.
Working closely with vintage
sellers and event organisers,
Vintassion’s dedicated website allows vintage hunters to browse both online ‘stalls’ and see details of upcoming vintage fairs to visit. Their weekly newsletter and daily posts further ensure that Vintassion attract a regular following from those planning trips around the country. www.vintassion.com
The Poster Guru
Paul ‘Poster Guru’ Veysey of Drivepast, has a vast selection of original movie posters and lobby cards for sale featuring motor cars and racing, with the odd 50s bombshell thrown in for the sheer hell of it. The website has hundreds of posters from all eras divided into marques, people and countries so that you can easily find what you’re looking for. There is also a great archive of ‘Gone but Not Forgotten’ posters that he wishes he’d kept! Then, watch out Paris – during the first week of February, Drivepast will travel to ‘Retromobile’ where you can find Paul sharing a stand with Chris Bayley Automobila; and then from 26th-28th February he will be at Race Retro on stand H2, Hall 1. Go and say hello and tell him we sent you!

TEXTILE TREASURE TROVE
The annual Dairy House Antiques, Interiors and Vintage Textiles Fair
has a well-deserved reputation for being one of the best places to go and source period textiles. This year’s fair takes place on Sunday 10th April and you will find some of the very best dealers in the South West there. Entry is free and there will also be light lunches and refreshments available. As well as the textile fair, the popular centre will be open all day, so you can browse through three floors of stock
too. Some of the VE team are certified fabricholics and can most definitely vouch for it being well worth the visit, and with this year promising to be even better, there’s no better time to go! Dairy House is situated close to the A303 and A350 on the Dorset/Wiltshire border. www.dairyhouseantiques.com
Stockport
Sundays
What does ‘Vintage’ mean to you? Is it dainty china tea sets and opulently patterned damask tablecloths? Or perhaps wind-up gramophones, rotary dial telephones and cameras that take rolls of
film rather than digital bytes? You might favour taxidermy squirrels
in whimsical poses, or sleek Mid- century tables. Perhaps your mind turns to matters sartorial – the perfect Crombie overcoat or a psychedelic late 1960s maxi dress. Then again, you might only have eyes for the depthless Mediterranean blues of Bitossi ceramics, or the robustly textured abstractions of Whitefriars glass.
Whatever comes to mind when you think of Vintage, the Vintage Village fair at Stockport Market Hall, held every second Sunday has it covered. With around 70 traders offering a huge variety of genuine vintage items for your wardrobe, your home or your growing specialist collection, you’ll find something to your taste and budget. www.thevintagevillage.co.uk
