True Case No (13) : Dr. Sallah is a good friend
Dr. Magid is just finishing his training and specialty in end-
odontic. He opened a private clinic in suburban area. Now most
of his appointment are reserved. Part of his patient are referred
from other colleges. Today in the clinic, he will see Mr. Adel for his
2nd visit. Mr. Adel was refereed by Dr. Sallah for root canal filling
for upper right first molar in which radiograph show small radiolu-
cency at palatal root apex. The molar is a retainer for all-ceramic
bridge. The plane is to remake the bridge after finishing the end-
odontic treatment.
The examination of the first visit, revealed necrotic pulp of the
molar, overhanged filling on mesial surface of upper right second
molar and first premolar. The buccal margins of the crowns were
opened which may give the possibility of leakage with cement
dissolution and pulpal necrosis.
Dr. Magid is very concerned with the care because Dr. Sallah is
a good friend and the first practitioner to welcome his to town and
refer to him many patients. Dr. Magid noticed a faulty margin of
restoration in some patient referred before by Dr. Sallah and that
was for endodontic treatment.
Mr. Adel is expressed no concern and he visit Dr. Sallah routinely
for checkup and examination. Last visit to Dr. Sallah was when
flaring up of the tooth. He just said this happen and he trust Dr.
Sallah explanation. Dr. Magid thinking if he should talk to Adel or
Dr. Sallah about his concern? Consult trusted colleague? Does
nothing except treating Adel or what he can do??
