True Case No (18) : I Will Drop the Suit if You Do it

Hanan is a 45years old female and a businesswoman. She
does not have regular dental case. She come to Dr. Hassan as
she wants to keep her teeth with complete set. She is in good
general health, good periodontal condition and Class I occlusion.
She has lower left second molar restored with core and crown
after what is appearing acceptable root canal treatment, and
partially erupted mesioangular impacted third molar of the same
side, also she need three units porcelain bridge at the upper right
maxillary side, some composite restoration of maxillary incisors
and amalgam at molars.

 Dr Hassan decided to start treatment plane with surgical ex-
traction of impacted third molar, but Hanan refused because of
the fear from surgery. Dr Hasson starting restorations of carious
anterior teeth with composite for the first visits. However, during
these visits, she developed a pericoronitis and agreed to the sur-
gery. She signed the informed consent that included the possibil-
ity of dislodgment of the adjacent crown. During the procedure,
which included tooth sectioning, and elevation of the sectioned
crown and roots, the second molar crown and core dislodged
revealing gross intracoronal caries that extended toward bifurca-
tion. Immediately Dr. Hassan informed Hanan about this unex-
pected finding and the need to the extract the non- restorable mo-
lar. She became upset that will loss another molar but appeared
to understand the situation and agreed. After surgery Dr Hassan
showed her the caries which was extended around and under the
core in the direction of the bifurcation.

 She has no complication during postoperative period. After three
weeks she called Dr. Hassan to arrange to complete the treat-
ment, but the conversation revealed that she has decided to sue
him to cover the cost of prosthetic replacement of the second mo-
lar with implant. She informs that nothing personal, appreciates
his treatment and supported her talks by the need of an appoint-
ment to construct the bridge if he restores the second molar for
